DSM offers dedicated facilities for the provision of Business Continuity and IT services. The facility, occupying a five acre site and incorporated into a WW2 aircraft Hangar, gives little indication from the outside as to its true nature, thus further reducing the risk that can sometimes be present for clients. Internally the facility provides a spacious air conditioned working environment which encompasses full power protection for continued operation.
The facility is enclosed within a steel perimeter fence with access restricted, through electronic means, to authorised persons only. Internally, all areas have electronic proximity card access control that allows or denies access as contracted. IP based CCTV monitoring is deployed internally and externally with automatic alarms as appropriate.
Once an individual has been security checked and 'signed in' further entry/exit is at the individual’s discretion (by use of the proximity card) and limited only by terms of business ie: contracted hours of access. Proximity card's remain with each individual until continuous occupation of the facility is no longer required ie: Invocation or Test is complete.
Both client and individual can relax in the knowledge that the site is fully secure with the building and car parking enclosed inside a CCTV monitored, steel fenced, perimeter zone. The parking area can comfortably accommodate 500 vehicles and can also accept HGV’s and PSV’s (buses) without any turning circle issues.
The Data Centre and Suites are power protected by Generator (N+1) and UPS (N+2) systems to tier level 3/4 thus allowing continued, uninterrupted operation in any mains failure or service situation. The facility has its own LPG gas supply, dual water supplies, on-site sewerage handling and a communication structure comprising of twin, separately routed high bandwidth fibres as well as Microwave and Copper.
The facility, at 37m above sea level and set within five acres on a rural site, is approximately 10 miles west of Peterborough. The 'rural' location eliminates the many risks that are associated with 'city centre' / 'industrial area' type premises. Access is made easy from a number of major routes (A1M 2miles, A47 2miles, A605 2miles, A14 7miles). London Kings Cross railway station is 55 minutes from Peterborough. Helicopter arrivals can be made direct into DSM's secure compound and Fixed wing accessibility is within 500m.
Although in a fairly remote rural location, the facility has, within a 5 minute drive, access to one of the largest 'out of town' Shopping Malls within the UK and 22 eating establishments ranging from a roadside cafe, through a Lochfyne fish restaurant to an a-la-carte menu at the local historic Haycock Hotel.
During summer months a local cafeteria can be reached by foot within a few minutes. Activities around the area include, historic aircraft flights, parachuting, dry ski slope, ice skating or for those wishing tranquillity, there are many serene walks. In house, DSM has a number of rest areas together with a small leisure facility equipped with table football and various gymnasium machinery.
