The need for redundant routing
In specifying a Disaster Recovery Centre you should be confident that its connectivity is redundant from Point Of Presence to the very walls of the centre itself.
You should have the surety that it is not reliant on becoming diversely resilient from some distant point and the reassurance that if there is diverse routing to the building itself, that this does not terminate in some single point of failure, however distant.
Disaster Solutions Management can provide you with the confidence you need in this area. It is critical; if you need to invoke a recovery option because the local telephone exchange is inoperative or data services have failed, you need to know that the Disaster Recovery Centre itself will not be incapacitated by the same problem.
Disaster Solutions Management's redundant routing
The Disaster Recovery Centre is connected by:
-
Two carriers
-
Two media
-
Three routes
Each route enters the building at a different point; this 'Compass Routing' further reducing the risk of failure.
Your connectivity options
The centre is connected with ISDN fibre and microwave. MPLS (Multi-Protocol Line Switching) services are already in place and available via a choice of carrier. Bandwidth can be made available to suit your needs, with the option to upgrade at invocation and thus manage fixed costs. ISDN capacity is limited only by our current switch capacity of 720 incoming/outgoing lines, which can be upgraded. Because MPLS offers the security of government endorsed VPN tunnelling and the opportunities to include the Centre into 'your cloud' it is anticipated that the majority of access will take place via this route. However the centre offers a range of other connectivity options that can be structured to suite your protocols security and QoS standards.
A web access service will be made available for Citrix Nfuse (Web Access) users and web based backup services to a sand-boxed server bank. LES circuits are available to Peterborough.
Disaster Solutions Management's sister company can provide cost quotations and complete installations for EPS9, TCP/IP, FrameRelay, ATM and FDDI. Adding DSM's centre to any multi-site MPLS solution is a simple step towards greater resilience. Click here for further details.
