In a disaster, speed is of the essence and flexibility a major asset. We offer both.
In a disaster your organisation needs to know that:
It can get to its data with ease and reliability
The data will be recoverable
Recovery can be effected with due haste
Deadlines for recovery (e.g. Business Continuity Plan) can be reliably achieved
Recovery methodologies will not add complexity
Our system offers these benefits and many more.
The offsite backup system offers an intelligent bare metal restore. Typically with a tape solution and a Microsoft/Intel platform a complete operating system, tape drive and software needs to be installed before recovery can proceed. Our system requires only the very basic OS - just enough to support RAID drivers. This can save hours in implementing recovery - critical hours.
What 's more, the system is intelligent. Hardware platforms do not have to be identical - the system will request driver files/disks if it identifies differing hardware during a restore. This reduces complexity, error potential, time required and costs
One of the biggest problems with tape backup is recovering a single file. In an environment that employs multi-tape loaders or jukeboxes, this is compounded. To find a file an IT specialist needs to find the exact tape it is stored on. He or she then needs to trawl through the tape and isolate the file, it then needs to be recovered. This process may take hours, even days.
Our system allows for the identification and recovery of individual files in minutes.
An option is available within the system to implement Message Level restore on MS Exchange. Users can delete critical emails in error - these can often be extremely timely - requiring a fast response, or providing key information for a customer project.
Message Level restore facilitates the swift recovery and restoration of these files, minimising disruption and reducing the time spent by IT staff in 'fire-fighting' these problems.
Because data is held on your vault at our data centre, options are available to you in a recovery situation. These can include:
Restoring online using data / internet connections
Restoring at the data centre over a LAN connection
Having your vault transferred to portable media and delivered to you
A combination of the above
